We are looking for a Head of Technology Strategy, AI and Data, to provide centralised leadership, planning and formulation of Technology Strategy AI and Data across the Enterprise Technology Services group.
What is this role about?
As the Head of Technology Strategy, AI & Data, you will collaborate with product, engineering, sales, and other departments to ensure alignment of data, AI initiatives, and strategies.
You’ll act as a thought leader in the development of data-driven products, platforms, and solutions across various business units. You’ll lead the implementation and uplift of the AI@Cuscal capability, managing operating governance, adoption, compliance and value realisation to allow the exploitation of this capability to support Cuscal’s strategy.
You’ll manage the Community of Practice of Data ensuring the governance, operation and use of Data@Cuscal is supported by a Strategy that aligns with Business Objectives and future state ambitions of the organisation in the use of Data.
Here’s some more insight into what you’ll work on
- Formulate a company wide Technology Strategies with supporting roadmaps that frames our technology needs and guides our investments in client facing and internal platforms.
- Ensure that the Technology Strategy leads the enablement of our Corporate Strategy by anticipating and building a flexible strategy that adapts to the changing needs of Cuscal
- Ensure there is open engagement in the formulation and subsequent tracking of progress of this strategy at all levels, including Heads, LT and the Board. Work with clients and internal stakeholders in this process.
- Develop and oversee the organisation’s overarching data strategy, aligning it with the group’s business goals and objectives.
- Create and implement a roadmap to establish a robust data-driven culture, fostering data literacy across the company.
- Lead and drive the development and deployment of artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) solutions to create a competitive advantage.
- Evaluate emerging AI trends and technologies, recommending and integrating those with potential to transform business processes and customer engagement.
- Collaborate with product, engineering, sales, and other departments to ensure alignment of data, AI initiatives, and strategies.

Essential:
- Prior experience in formulating digital strategies in payments businesses with executive engagement (client and internal)
- A track record in enabling realisation of strategies through clear architecture direction, establishing vendor engagements and other governance controls to drive successful execution.
- Knowledge of the Australian payments and banking ecosystem in regards to key platforms and payment flows
- Respected leader in the field of AI, Data Management and innovation, with a track record in helping organisations grow through the applications of these capabilities
- Knowledge of the project and operational lifecycle, in regard to reviewing and refining controls to better enable delivery of the strategy
- Strong leadership skills to set direction for complex, multi-year digital investments in a collaborative and fact-based manner
Although not required, any experience in the following would be highly desirable:
- Prior leadership in project delivery and execution
- Prior leadership in 24x7 operational environments
Technical Skills:
- Strategic planning, enterprise architecture and technology selection
- Technology governance frameworks, e.g. PMF, COBIT, ITIL, including embedding these across technology teams
- Understanding of AI practices and management
- Data Management and operating frameworks
Non-Technical Skills:
- TOGAF or similar architecture frameworks
- AI and Data management practices
- Security Architecture frameworks, (e.g. OWASP)
- Cyber-security standards such as NIST, ASD Essential Eight and ISO
- Communicates with Influence - Engages and inspires others through clear and persuasive communication
